What is an Interval Training Workout?
An interval-training workout is one in which you alternate periods of hard work (the stress phase) with periods of easy work (the recovery phase). Interval training is a heart-rate-based training program. It uses specific heart rates for exercise intensity. You can use any mode of exercise that you enjoy to perform intervals (i.e. walking, jogging, running, biking, swimming, etc.).
Note: Interval Training is a heart rate based program. It is most important to use a heart rate monitor to monitor your heart rate (bpm) while performing intervals.
