Eating Behavior (Page 1 of 2)
The first step in weight management is to identify your eating behaviors. Once you have identified your eating behaviors, take steps to change these destructive behaviors. Begin by keeping a food diary for a week or two. Knowing when and what you eat and the mood you are in when you eat will reveal a pattern of eating. You then can take steps to modify your undesirable eating patterns. Psychologists call this “behavior modification”. Once you know the reasons for your overeating, you can defend yourself against outside influences such as events and mood states.
What kind of eater are you?
Night Eater
Awakes in the middle of the night for a snack or has a big snack before bedtime. Often skips breakfast/lunch and then overeats at night.
Compulsive Eater
Eats constantly, but rarely sits down to an entire meal. Fears or anxieties trigger eating.
